The point of NRTs …
on March 3, 2010 at 3:33 pmThe point of NRTs are to be used when you have cravings. The rest is being educated and learning how to deal with triggers such as stress; breakin habits; dealing with withdrawal symptoms. I’ve been recommending the Wii-fit for my patients to try when they feel bored; and deep breathing exercises & yoga when they feel stressed. Let me tell you, Wii-fit sales are sky rocketing =)

on March 3, 2010 at 3:33 pmand then you create more receptors; and so on. NRTs are different from cigs in the way they feed those receptors. They feed them gradually; over hours (gum/lozenges) whch you can redose; and over a day (using patches); NRTs are not harmful if you dose them appropriately as you need. Not everyone will be gettin the same dose; it’s important to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about an appropriate choice of NRT.

on March 3, 2010 at 3:33 pmYes, nicotine is addictive; what is harmful are all the chemicals in a cigarette; that’s what causes disease. Dependance and habit occur because it takes a few seconds for cigarette nicotine to get into your brain; then you create more nicotine receptors; and then you light up another one;
